I appreciated you video, but I was expecting something different. I expected you to order us to use certain colors. While considering re-sale value is good, the most important think is to do what gives you peace and joy in your home. We used $tree poster board and color samples from home depotto several large samples for walls, cabinets, and trim. We hung them different areas, such as different walls which get different light. And the we chose. White never goes out of style. It has been a good color for more than 100 years. There is absolutely no reason to slavishly follow trends. Pick a color scheme that you love. I stuggled when we remodeled our kitchen we bought used cabinets from Habitat for humanity. I traditionally hate grey and did not want grey in my kitchen. However after agonizing I recognised the huge graniite fireplace was gray. What helped me was finding a piece of fabric that I loved. I was able to use the different color palette there to build a beautiful kitchen. The cabinets are white (refurbished and painted by us. The walls are a very light grey beige. The counter is a beautiful piece of white granite, marble with streaks of blue, grey beige etc. The back splash is dark blue tile, that we tiled. And yes I made a color sample of that and hung it on the back slash area. The flooring hardwood that be bought some years ago but didn't install because of parents dying etcl. It matched the hardwood flooring that we put in when we bought the house. A lot of problems turned up and I will spare you all the details.

What is the best white paint colours for a basement by Benjamin Moore? I was looking at White Dove and Simply White. I want it to look bright and clean without looking cold.

I am looking for a very fresh feeling cream - like dairy. Definitely yellow undertones but bright and milky. Is White Rock it? Or does anyone have other recommendations?

Can you use these paints on showers?

I've got a new studio and when I'm with my back at the (only) door, I've got one window facing the north east and one bigger window facing the north west. What should I take into account? The north? I'll be spending a lot of my time in this studio but later I expect to be there mostly in the evening cause I'll be out for work. The studio has a sloped roof and I've been there from 15.30 till 20 to see how the light comes in. There doesn't appear to be a lot of (sun)light during the mid-day/afternoon. Right there is some type of creme/offwhite on the walls, I need permission to repaint this studio but the kitchen is in some creme/light (camel?) brown) shade. General advice is very welcome!

Please anyone have any thoughts on a color choice? I have a. South facing living room , I have very very dark stained walnut floors and very dark brown leather furniture and I don’t know if I should go cool or warm tone paint? I can’t decide if a white or a green shade would be best? I’ve ruled out blue and greiges. My house is built 910 with the old style large trim . Right now it’s natural linen by glidden but it needs paint and I’d like a little more cheer that I could live with a long time

Great topic - taking a slow approach, recycling what you have. More thoughtful than a quick gut job!

We may not like « Chantilly Lace », but sometimes we have to face the faces that it is the best choice! I know I might have to do maybe 1-2 more coats, but after over a douzen tests of different whites (not for lack of trying😅), this is the color that looks the prettiest in my home. Nice reminder renovation can be a long process and it’s ok! 🙃

Good video. Thank you. One slight negative, however. The “clip art” insertions are distracting. Having your guest show us what she’s talking about, rather than “illustrating” with generic clips. Our attention span is not as short as you seem to think.

Always hated renovation shows that took such glee in taking a sledge hammer and smashing up perfectly good cabinets (honestly some were of much better quality than the new cabinets they'd replace them with). It was so wasteful. So many people would have loved to take those 'old' cabinets and put them in their kitchen. So glad to see some of the shows have been more careful in removing the cabinets so they can be donated instead of dumped in the trash.

There's a gap between the cabinet doors on two of the cabinets. That would drive me crazy.

Determination and a tiny budget taught me this. The cabinets were saved with sanding and white paint, taking the doors off and spraying them was the key. A few months later I tiled the countertops. Not ideal but the tile was $1 sq ft and I found some tiles to use as accents that matched my Fiestaware. The cost was pennies to the dollar and I enjoyed my house so much more.

Nope, Dont like the white with THAT FLOOR! I DO love the dark cabinetry, it goes with the floor, and its more timeless than that white...BUT as usual thats MY taste, a nice honey oak color would have worked with ALL of it if ppl dont like the beautiful dark woods!

Other reviewers both pros and dyi claim SW satin has a rough finish like flat paint. Anyone else find that result?

I’m going to paint my houses interior. I want a way to cut in above the cabinets where it’s too hard to reach easily & cutting in with a brush with a long handle probably won’t work very well. This seems like my best option with one on a long handle. Thanks!

SOS! James I need your help...I just installed the Citrus color vinyl flooring (it's basically white oak) from the Deluxe collection in my basement (approx. 1600 sq feet). I'm about to paint all the walls in BM Seattle Gray (2130-70). The trim, frames and doors are white BM-F627 01. I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether you think the Seattle gray paint color is a good choice.
